Evening Tea 

I love evening tea. I never have any actual tea, but I never have many things and don't seem to notice. Anyway, without cream, it coats the palate. Who keeps cream?

Shopping 

While out and about, I shopped for new sneakers and got a warranty replacement for the privacy screen on my phone, which was a little chewed up. Zagg, a friendly saleswoman, even put the new one on for me. 

The sneaks, slip-on Vans, the ones with the Victory flag checks. It's like not having feet. 

I made a mental list of all the things I had put off refreshing until a big sale or something, but now that Trump is driving the economic bus, everything is on sale; no matter what it costs, it will cost more tomorrow. 

Socks, t-shirts, skivvies, sneaks -- all made NOT in the USA. 

I'm a little hyper from all the retail therapy emulating excess, but I'll stop shaking soon, I'm sure. /g

My Day 

I've had the 15 iAir laptop at the Apple shop; they paved it over and installed 14.7, I've completed the backup restore and the app restore, and I'm just waiting for 15.1.1 to download.

That's sucked up my whole day since 9:45 AM.

Apple, you know i love you ( sorta ) but this is supposed to work without requiring a full time job as a maintenance and operations employee to manage the OS.

Just kicking the tires on the restored 15, I make it 6 hours of my time. Apple, you owe me $1200.

If you can't beat 'em, beat the !#(% out of them, not yet a meme, but Jan 20 is weeks away. Elon is pre-annoucing where the sword of Damacles is to fall, and best be looking up all. I heard Fahreed saying, gee maybe this time the radical budget fix without cutting anything crucial or good movement that is perpetually undertaken in new administrations will have a happy ending. It's like walking the dog after it eats I guess, the dog always poops where ever it wants.

On the work agenda for today, for fun I watched some videos on GUT and vector calculus. I said work, didn't I? 

One video on derived universes caught my attention and that was almost work. It didn't have enough math, but that's the trouble: there isn't a lot that works. 

I've been toying with vector calculus and Eigenvectors. The DIV and CURL, etc, predictors they are. I worked on imaginary math to keep up with some of the videos.  I've been here with electronics, which is more almost like work stuff. The time some YouTubers have invested in these topics is astounding. 

Somewhere part of me begins to wonder why I ever struggled with some of these things.

I'd like the answer to a question from your experts; I'll ask mine as well and keep you in the loop.

Assume 25% on Mexico and Canada and 10% tariff increase on China, profit squeezes for the weak, market sell off, rate cut pass next meeting, inflation ticks up a good 5 % and some supply chain instability -- use the pandemic for a model and apply a coefficient (percentage).

What effect does all this have on the market? Assuming it happens, I guess saying it twice after you've already nominated the post is like reality. 

Next, what is the effect of devaluing the currency in that environment, and where does gold go? 

Other experts with opinions on Fed 1,5 and 10-year rates have at it. I tend to think of this as the brake.

Today, we spun up the data server, defined the ontology and namespace, configured the front end, updated MacStockApp to save data in our data repository, created an event-driven Python data source protocol and engine, and defined a skeleton API.

From here I tell the bot to fill in the blanks.

Project Update Proper

I'm mostly done with one of the Swift apps, a StockMarketAnalysis framework, with its own rudimentary language. The core was ported from Python; it was functional programming by baby blocks with advanced thread data management, but it had flaws. The math was kind of missing the use case; it's accurate but not meaningful. but it had some good patterns, so the patterns became augmented and improved patterns in a more modern language, arguably, that was much easier to architect and write. And it's an app on my Mac and my iPhone.

Any way, it's a model builder, really. And I won't have to pay per prompt for larger data. I also hypothetically could build a reasonably sized reasoner using a triple store I built years ago that I could re-write. I might. I have new paradigms, and RXJS is begging me to write a lightweight service.

The issue here I'm glossing over is this is a really effective use of small models. It's analysis(es) of  (a) stock(s). Hi/low/close/EPS and magic dust. That's four things. I don't need it to be able to sing the Star Spangled Banner in Swahili, at least not for a while. I was faced with building out impossible-sized models on these tiny little devices, managed through the web interface and a massive natural language model. Or... everything but the girl.

We're not doing a lot of natural model, one writes code in Stockese in scripts. That's a NLM with no NL. It will be smaller, faster, easier to modify, cheaper to maintain, and above all, it's not paying per compute cycle.

I would eventually like to trim the inferences and logic to a laptop-able scale, but before that can happen I have work to do.   I often struggle with how far to take the semantics seriously in code. I've been an advocate. It is such a small detail, the namespace of a thing. 

It rubs off in other areas; soon, I'll get all these recent concepts in code and strike it with a mallet on the toe like the sculptor.

MMM and Me

We just pushed the envelope on our stocks app. I always give it more work to do before I've caught up. Yeah, I like it that way. 

We did estimates for a NLM, but I didn't like the results.   It's the big data that is problematic, and even then, I'm paying Google per query, I assume, on their hardware, perhaps per compute unit. 

So, descope, and we don't look at the whole economy for a while; in the meantime, we're beefing up some of the architecture and building observers/controllers for the data store. Eventually, we'll add a protocol to parse command scripts, write syntax for it, and implement it as a protocol/observer pair for the eval loop. 

It's the same thing, not the whole economy, but enough to predict and map out mayhem (momentum-mayhem) and other discernable patterns, just short of charter Carter Worth.

I must have had a brilliant day...

I had a productive day; I feel I was medium productive all day. I have four projects on the burners right now, and some projects have a light coat of virtual dust.

I've considered spinning up a few Emma clusters to see how it hums. I have the MacStockApp just finished and awaiting more analysis and mathematics. I went through the project plan MMM created, and she, I call the bot, allocated an Epic for herself.  For example :

I want to rework the plan none the less, so I deleted it.

Speaking of lying tigers. I haven't looked at the market. Bitcoin in the '90s; who cares what the market does, right? 

Carl, these appointments and such are looking like he has no idea who to use because the people he wants won't work for him or he can't trust,  and the ones that will work form him that are bigger idiots or bigger crooks than he is and he doesn't trust them either. This is sort of the Venn diagram approach, with people in his pocket in the outlying areas where he throws a dart and hopes it will stick.

Actual Work 

MMM and I built out the stock trend predictor yesterday; today, we're, well, let's be honest for a moment; I do the math, and I do the rest, too. She runs the calculator. I split my efforts. Some of the Google tools look compelling, but I find building them easier. Maybe it's the learning curve, but I usually don't have a learning curve. I work in AI Studio for most of the proving ground code. This interface can read a private repository now; there is no arguing about where we were. The bot also built a passable KANBAN board with stories and epics in Jira. Jira will consume all this work product and more, including GitHub and pull requests, and if that could talk to MMM, we'll pardon the ready phrase, now we'd be talkin'.

I find that my wildest dreams of sliding algorithms and such quickly appear in some form. Thank you Google.
I'm sure you'll find the patterns to be useful too. Ya, I looped Sabrina C for an hour, that one about tasting me when you kiss her. I'll post it.  Oh, I meant that too; see below. 

The Icon Today

I apologize for the icon today, but the world looks like a zombie zoo this morning, and I know it's not just me. The look on everyone's face says it: what in the world were we thinking letting this mob boss get elected and stress us all out about which demon is coming to dinner?

Necessary Things

It seems the blog reaches some internal limit on iPhone Chrome instances, at least my particular iPhone and this causes Cannot Load Page errors. The recommended workaround is to close the browser, restart the device, and one or both usually works, but it's probably easier just to give the blog a once over.
